Dear Smothers Elementary School Families,
It is with great excitement and heartfelt gratitude that I introduce myself as the new principal of Smothers Elementary School for the 2025-2026 school year. I am honored to join this amazing community and look forward to partnering with you to ensure a strong, joyful, and enriching educational experience for every student.
As an educator, I bring over a decade of experience serving students and families across Washington, D.C. I have had the privilege of working as a paraprofessional, English teacher, academic dean, and most recently, as the assistant principal at C.W. Harris Elementary School. Each of these roles has shaped my unwavering belief in the power of public education to transform lives and communities. My passion lies in disrupting systemic inequities and ensuring that every child—regardless of background—has access to the high-quality education they deserve.
Smothers has a proud legacy of excellence, and I am committed to building on that foundation while helping to shape a rich and promising future. I believe in fostering a school culture that is student-centered, equity-driven, and grounded in strong partnerships with families. Together, we will cultivate a safe, nurturing, and academically rigorous environment where our students can thrive.
